Pinsight is an app for collecting and trading pins. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, which you use to sign in.
- Profile: the name, handle, photo and bio you choose, and who can see your profile (everyone, followers, or only you).
- Your collection and wants: pins you add, your ISO and Grail lists, trade preferences, and notes.
- Things you share: photos of your pins and of pin boards, posts, comments and messages.
- Location, only while you use the app: to show the park map, place a pin board, confirm a photo was taken at the park, and work out which area of the park you're in. Your phone works out the area itself and sends Pinsight only the park and the area (for example, "near Germany"), never your exact location.
- The trading map, only while you're open to trade: if you turn on Open to trade (for people 18 and older), other collectors who are open to trade at the same park see you on the map in the area of the park you're in, not where you're standing, along with the pins you've marked for trade. You leave the map when you turn it off or your chosen time runs out. You can hide from specific people, and people you've blocked (or who've blocked you) never see you.
- Meet-ups: when you agree a trade in person, the meet spot you choose (a spot you drop on the park map, a description you write, or a suggested spot) is shown only to your trading partner once you've both accepted, and is cleared when the trade ends. If you both choose to share live location for the last stretch before a meet-up, it goes only to your trading partner, only from 10 minutes before the meet-up until you've both tapped "I'm here" (or shortly after the meet-up time), and Pinsight passes it along without storing it.
- Trades: who traded which pins, when, and how (in person or by mail). For trades by mail, the shipping address you enter is shared only with your trading partner for that trade.
- Purchases: whether you subscribe to Pinsight+. Apple handles payment; we never see your card details.
- Usage and device: how features are used (to improve the app), crash details, and a push notification token if you allow notifications.
How we use it
- To run Pinsight: your collection, the trading map, trade suggestions, meet-ups, the park board map, alerts and messages.
- To build the pin catalogue and improve pin recognition, using photos you share (see the photo terms you accept in the app). We remove location and camera details from photos before storing them, and blur faces on board photos.
- To keep Pinsight safe: reviewing reports, removing content, and suspending accounts that break our Terms.
- To send sign-in codes and, if you allow them, notifications.
Who we share it with
Other collectors see what you choose to make visible. We use service providers to run Pinsight, only for that purpose: Supabase (database and sign-in), Google Cloud (servers), Resend (email), Apple (purchases and notifications), Expo (app updates and notifications) and Anthropic (reading pin photos to suggest which pin it is). We share information if the law requires it.
Your choices
- Export: Profile → Account → Export my data.
- Delete: Profile → Account → Delete my account. Your personal data is deleted; trades you completed stay in the other person's history as "Former collector". Deleting your account doesn't cancel an Apple subscription; cancel that in your Apple ID settings.
- Delete any photo, post or message you shared at any time. Turn off notifications or location in iOS Settings.
Children
Pinsight is for people 13 and older, and the live trading map is for people 18 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Data retention and security
We keep your data while your account exists. Data is encrypted in transit and protected by access controls.
Changes and contact
If we make a significant change we'll tell you in the app. Questions: support@pinsight.online.
